Terms of service

Effective [date]. These terms are an agreement between you and [Company legal name], a company registered in Nepal (registration no. [—], PAN [—]), [registered address] ("we") for the use of Law Automator. By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you accept them for a law firm, you confirm you may bind it.

1. The service

Law Automator is software for running a law office: front desk and consultations, clients and matters, conflict checks, calendar and deadlines, drafting, precedent search, the law library, checklists, billing, the client portal, notary work and certified translation, plus public legal-document templates. Features available to a firm depend on its plan, shown on the sign-up and Subscription pages.

2. Not legal advice

We provide software, not legal services. Search results, Acts, judgments, templates, deadline rules and checklists are research and practice aids. Items marked "unverified" or "not yet legally reviewed" have not been checked by a legal reviewer. Lawyers using the service remain solely responsible for their advice, filings, deadlines and compliance with the Nepal Bar Council Act, 2050 and their professional duties.

3. Accounts and security

Give accurate information, keep your password and two-step verification safe, and tell us at once about any unauthorised use. You are responsible for activity under your account. Firm owners and partners decide who joins their workspace and with what role, and should remove access when someone leaves.

4. Your content and confidentiality

Your firm owns the content it puts into Law Automator and is responsible for having the right to process it, including clients' personal information. We process it only to provide the service, under the data processing terms, which form part of these terms. We do not access a firm's content except to keep the service running and secure, when the firm asks us to for support, or when the law requires.

5. Trials, plans and payment

  • A new firm can start a free trial (currently 14 days); one trial per person.
  • After the trial, choose a monthly or yearly plan. Prices are shown in Nepali rupees before you pay and include or exclude VAT as stated.
  • Subscriptions renew for the same period. Renewal invoices are issued in advance; pay by eSewa, Khalti or bank transfer.
  • If a renewal is not paid, the workspace keeps working for a grace period (currently 7 days) and then becomes read-only: you can view, export and pay, but not add or change records.
  • We may change prices for future periods with at least 30 days' notice; the new price applies from your next renewal.
  • Refunds are covered by the refund and cancellation policy.

6. Cancellation and your data

Owners and partners can cancel at any time; the subscription stays active until the end of the paid period. You can export your firm's data at any time, including while read-only. After a cancelled subscription ends, the workspace is deleted after the retention period shown on the Subscription page (currently 60 days); we email a warning a week before.

7. Acceptable use

Use the service lawfully and follow the acceptable use policy. We may suspend access that puts the service, other users or the public at risk, with notice where practical.

8. Availability and maintenance

We work to keep the service available but do not promise it will be uninterrupted. Planned maintenance is announced in the service where possible. Keep your own copies of documents you must have, such as filed pleadings.

9. Intellectual property

The software, design and our own content belong to us or our licensors. Acts and judgments are public legal texts; our compilation, indexing and translations are ours. We grant your firm a non-exclusive right to use the service during its subscription. Do not copy, resell or reverse-engineer the service, or bulk-download the library.

10. Liability

To the extent the law of Nepal allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits or lost cases, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees your firm paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Changes, law and disputes

We may update these terms; significant changes are notified by email at least 30 days before they apply. These terms are governed by the laws of Nepal. We will first try to resolve any dispute by discussion; if that fails, it will be decided by the courts of Nepal with jurisdiction.
